Hotel Venezia
Among the hotels one can find in Albay, one place stands out for its pedigree. The Hotel Venezia is one of the hotels managed by the well-known Discovery group, which also operates the Discovery Suites in Metro Manila, Discovery Country Suites in Tagaytay, Discovery Shores in Boracay and soon Discovery Bay in Misibis, also in the Bicol region. Although Hotel Venezia is quite small compared with its sister hotels, it exhibits “the same level of style and service,” says Ian Mayer Varona, its resident manager.
What distinguishes this hotel from others in Legazpi City, as well, is its personalized style of service, uncommon in the province. For those who have experienced the other Discovery properties, it will be obvious that the well-known Discovery brand of hospitality is very much alive in this cozy hotel.
The rooms are simple yet luxuriously comfortable and well-maintained, and the hotel staff is friendly and accommodating. The level of service is certainly superior, and the food in its restaurant, Caffe San Marco, features cuisine inspired by Italian flavors and crafted from the freshest and most seasonal ingredients. Varona is particularly proud of its desserts. Caffe San Marco seats 40 to 60 persons, including outdoor dining, and is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Located just two minutes by car from the Legazpi City airport, Hotel Venezia is ensconced within the gated community of Renaissance Gardens in Washington Drive. Like almost any place in the city, it is just a few minutes away from commercial areas, government offices, banks, churches and parks.
With its restful ambiance, Hotel Venezia is the ideal home away from home when in Legazpi. It offers a range of accommodations — 15 standard rooms, 23 junior suites and two one-bedroom suites. Some rooms have king-size beds and some have double beds. Some also have verandas. Each are equipped with standard amenities such as bathrobes and slippers, coffee/tea making facilities, complimentary buffet breakfast, complimentary local newspaper, hair dryer, in room safe, iron and ironing board upon request, LCD television with cable channels, mini bar, office desk and twice daily housekeeping service.
Before you turn in for the night, you will find that your robe and slippers have been laid out for you on the turned-down bed, and a little refreshment thoughfully placed on your coffee table. One night you might get a few oatmeal cookies, or perhaps a moist carrot cake, and as you chew on them you could amuse yourself with the nice little note that accompanied the snack.
The hotel also offers business services, a business center, WiFi access in public spaces, audio visual equipment and computer rental. It has three function rooms ideal for business functions or events like weddings and parties. The hotel’s meeting facilities and equipment are good for 10 to 350 persons for meetings and 500 persons for cocktails.
Those seeking recreation may opt to use the hotel’s swimming pool and tennis court. Twenty-four hour reflexology services are also available.
To those who would like to explore the province, the hotel arranges city tours, which include Mayon skyline, handicraft, Albay Park and Wildlife, Lignon Hill, churches, Cagsawa ruins and Kapuntukan Hill; adventure tours including whale shark interaction, manta ray interaction, wakeboarding, caves, waterfalls and an 18-hole golf course experience; as well as educational tours, which include visits to a museum, the Japanese tunnel in Lignon Hill and a pili nut factory.
Discovering Bicol is now far easier with the Hotel Venezia.
