Gallerias De Legaspi

When in Bicol, one should never miss shopping for abaca products – the region’s signature product. And when it comes to abaca-based products, Gallerias de Legaspi is one of the best sources in the whole of Bicol. Gallerias De Legaspi specializes in handmade Abaca Handicrafts, mostly stylish bags. It is a factory outlet of a well-known exporter to such names as Esprit and Nine West. Each bag takes up to 48 hours to make by hand.

The Bicol Region is known for its Abaca-based products. The Abaca fiber, also known as Manila hemp, was extensively used during the 19th to 20th century as material for making ropes used in galleons and ships that sail that sail all over the world. The outer skin of the Abaca plant is peeled off thinly and dried under the sun. The fibers are then expertly dyed & woven by hand to produce the beautiful bags, placemats, hats, fiberart and other houseware handicrafts.

Gallerias de Legaspi is located just a few meters away from the Legazpi Domestic Airport for convenient shopping especially for visitors and tourists.
