A new modern road network linking the province of Albay to Donsol, Sorsogon will soon be constructed after it was included among six critical road projects assured of funding under the Millenium Challenge Account Philippines Compact Project (MCAPCP), a grant facility of the United States of America. The road project consists of 26.90 kilometers of concrete road and five bridges with an aggregate length of 75 meters. The project will entail a cost of P814.6 million.
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will soon establish a Doppler radar system and a Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Regional Weather Bureau in Albay. The Bureau, dubbed as the Southern Luzon Weather Region (SLWR), will provide weather forecasting and warning services to the six provinces of Bicol that included Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Sorsogon and the island provinces of Catanduanes and Masbate.
Legazpi City — The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IP Philippines) has opened its fourth satellite office in this city as part of its continued effort to extend public outreach nationwide. DARAGA, Albay—The government is speeding up the acquisition of 200 hectares of land in Barangay Alobo, to build the P3.4-billion Southern Luzon International Airport in Daraga town, Mayor Cicero Tiumfante said Friday. He said officials had consulted 216 landowners to be affected by the airport’s construction in Alobo village, and he was optimistic they would agree to sell.
