LKY Metro Transport and Lifestyle Hub

The city of Legazpi is set to unveil a new integrated transport and lifestyle complex that will replace the old bus terminal. The P150-million modern terminal is touted as the first of its kind in the entire country – a showcase of what future transport terminals should be. The new terminal, dubbed as LKY Metro Transport and Lifestyle Hub, is built on a 3.9-hectare land located right in the geographical center of the city’s urban area.

A group of young entrepreneurs from Bicol is modernizing Legazpi’s antiquated bus terminal by transforming it into an integrated transport-lifestyle complex with comforts and leisure facilities for commuters. The LKY Group is scheduled to open early next month The Metro, Legazpi City’s state-of-the-art transport terminal. Built on a 3.9-hectare land, the P150-million project is expected to be a showcase of what terminals of the future should be.

The city of Legazpi has recovered from the devastating effects of Typhoon Reming (Durian) in November 2006, according to Mayor Noel E. Rosal in an announcement on the eve of the 50th Charter Anniversary of the City on June 12, 2009. Legazpi’s recovery was realized through help of the private sector, the national government and foreign agencies which poured in some P 5-Billion in economic and infra investments in this prime Bicol city.

Gov’t to Speed Up Land Acquisition for New Airport

DARAGA, Albay—The government is speeding up the acquisition of 200 hectares of land in Barangay Alobo, to build the P3.4-billion Southern Luzon International Airport in Daraga town, Mayor Cicero Tiumfante said Friday. He said officials had consulted 216 landowners to be affected by the airport’s construction in Alobo village, and he was optimistic they would agree to sell.

PNR to Resume Manila-Bicol Train Service Soon

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo announced on Monday (April 20) that the Philippine National Railways (PNR) is expected to resume train travel between Manila and Bicol region before the end of the year. The President said she was informed by PNR General Manager Manuel Andal that the rehabilitation of the Manila-Bicol-PNR line would be completed before the end of 2009 paving the resumption of the train service between the two points.

Government to spend P150M to revive ‘pili’ nut industry

TO revitalize the pili nut industry in Bicol and turn it into one of the country’s top export earners, the government is set to spend P150 million for the program. The Department of Agriculture (DA) said the Pili Development Program would involve a massive planting of seven pili varieties in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes and Sorsogon. The provinces account for 82 percent of the supply of the nut.

P100 M coconut processing plant to open in Albay

A P100 million coconut crushing and processing plant will soon rise at the Legazpi Oil Company (LegOil) compound here, a company director said on Monday. The crushing plant will be operational this Friday after an inaugural rites to be led by Pepita Baltazar Aquino, chairwoman of the LegOil Company and an Executive Committee (Execom) meeting at the firm’s compound.

Japanese firm to build retirement village in Legazpi

Luxcess Business Consulting Inc., a Japanese firm engaged in tourism-related development around the world will invest in a retirement village here in Legazpi for Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese clients. Luxcess president Hideaki Takeda announced that it has established tie-up deals wtih the city government of Legazpi through Mayor Noel Rosal for the project dubbed ‘Close-Up Legazpi” to be launched next month.
