It will be a grand display of colors, culture and grace as Bicol’s best festivals gather together in a grand street dance extravaganza in Legazpi City, Albay on April 29.
The Magayon Festival, literally the ‘beautiful’ festival, is the province of Albay’s annual month-long celebration of its rich culture, history, crafts, and cuisine. See the Magayon Festival 2011 calendar of activities below:
The Province of Albay recently launched the 15th Magayon Festival, Bicol’s biggest and longest cultural festivity, which takes place from April 1-30 in Legazpi City.
Albay province led by Governor Joey Sarte Salceda with Department of Education (DepEd) Albay are ready to host this year’s annual Palarong Bikol 2011 scheduled February 13 -19 as some 6,000 athletes and their delegations from 13 provinces and cities are ready for the friendly competition.

Among the glittering Christmas trees that help light up Albay province at night this time of year, none probably could outgrow the one towering over 40 feet at the Albay Astrodome in the provincial capital Legazpi City. Environment-friendly, this Christmas tree was crafted out of empty drums of aviation fuel and is powered by solar energy. Reputedly zero-carbon and zero-waste, it was lit up for the first time on Wednesday as part of Gov. Joey Salceda’s efforts to raise awareness on negative effects of global warming and the need to minimize thinning of the ozone layer.
Already recognized and multi-awarded as a global model for climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction, the province Albay launched another pioneering policy in line with its provincial governance goal of environmental protection and climate change adaptation — the Green Christmas Initiative.
