History
Buhawi Hills and Binanderahan Hill were traditionally used by local residents, primarily for gathering resources and accessing other parts of the Panganiran Range. These hills remained relatively unknown to outsiders for many years. However, in recent times, their stunning natural beauty and proximity to Legazpi City have led to a surge in popularity among hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. The word “Buhawi” means “whirlwind” in Filipino, perhaps referring to the strong winds that can sometimes blow over the hills, adding to the adventurous allure of the trek. Meanwhile, “binanderahan” translates to “decorated or adroned with a flag”.
